About the journal

The Pisces Hungarici (hereafter PH) is the official journal of the Hungarian Ichthyological Society.
It was founded in 2005 by the Hungarian Ichthyological Society that recognize the necessity to create a new peer reviewed scientific journal in Hungary. Since its formation, PH make the papers published available online on the website of the Hungarian Ichthyological Society (http://haltanitarsasag.hu) without fee. PH is currently published once every year (in summer) but the editors are working in the possibility for increasing the number of issues.
The PH is a professional periodical referred by Zoological Record and covered by EBSCO. It publishes peer-reviewed articles on results of ichthyological research activities carried out in (or related to) Hungarian or adjacent natural waters.
It contains first of all original papers not published elswhere and have been presented by the authors on one of the fora of the Hungarian Ichthyological Society but it is also open for other manuscripts.
Papers may be submitted in Hungarian or English, final decision on publication is based on the opinions prepared by invited referees (see under Publication Ethics and Cover Letter). The editors will be grateful if the authors that submit manuscripts propose (Cover letter) for the editorial board three internationally recognized researchers in the domain of their paper. This will facilitate the review process.
